Vacuum cleaning-apparatus.-In apparatus in which an electric motor m is arranged between a filter f and a fan p, the motor casing g is contracted into a funnel-shaped portion t, the central aperture o of which is carried within the eye of the fan p. The base of the apparatus is formed by the fan casing g, so that large impellers may be used. The filtered air is drawn through and around the motor by the fan and is discharged through circumferential passages x formed by blades i. The passages x may be closed by a special fitting when the fan is used as a blower. If desired, the casing g may form the motor casing.
