772,796. Vacuum cleaners. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 3, 1955 [May 6, 1954], No. 12839/55. Class 8(1) In a vacuum cleaner comprising a casing 10 closed at one side having a wheel 12 mounted thereon, a motor and fan. unit '24 in the casing, a guard 32 mounted within the casing with one end attached to the discharge chamber 30 and the other extending toward the open side of the casing and having a disc portion 34 to which is secured a cup-shaped cover 46. the disc portion and cover forming a chamber 56 in which is mounted a switch 78 and a socket 64 for the plug of an electric lead, the cover 46 detachably supports an assembly 92 compming a casing closure lid 94, a collar 112 and a wheel 14. The wheel 14 has a laterally displaced annular portion 120 for protecting the push-button 90 of the switch, further protection being provided by a protuberance 118 formed on the collar 112; Specifications 765,320 and 772,795 are referred to.
