Abstract

514,702. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. May 13, 1938, No. 14314. Convention date June 5, 1937. [Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group II] A removable casing 20 is provided on the chassis of a closed circuit vacuum cleaner and provides a passage 83 by which air from the inner nozzle 25 is drawn by the fan 61, the casing of which is formed by the inner wall of the casing 20 ; dust is thrown out by the rotary-bladed centrifugal separator 62 into the dirt receptacle constituted by the casing. Cleaned air passes back to the nozzle through a chamber 40 in the chassis and passages provided with apertures in the lower wall covered by renewable fabric filters carried by pivoted plates 44, which allow escape of a portion of the air. Apertures 52, 54 in the motor casing allow passage of cooling air around the motor.
