Abstract

481,089. Vacuum cleaners. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Sept. 30, 1937, No. 26493. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1936. Addition to 460,002. [Class 8 (i)] A vacuum cleaner, as described in the parent Specification, is provided with a rotary or axially-movable control valve 16, by means of which the air flow can be directed either from the hose 14 through the dust collector 11 and the motor and fan unit 12 to auxiliary openings 25, or, in another position of the valve 16, the air is drawn in through the openings 25 and is discharged through the hose 14. The dust collector 11. and the motor and fan unit 12 are contained in a casing 13, which is arranged in the outer casing 10, preferably eccentrically, as shown. A partition 22 extends between the casings 10, 13 and an auxiliary filter unit 21, inserted through the floor of the casing 10, abuts against the partition 22. The air discharged by the fan passes through the filter 21 and through openings 24 in the partition 22, either to the openings 25, or to the hose 14, according to the position of the valve 16. The latter has a #-passage 27 for connecting the hose 14 either to the space beneath the cover 20 or to the filter 21. Passages 28 in the valve 16 connect the openings 25 either to the filter 21 or to the space beneath the cover 20.
