Abstract

482,938. Centrifugal separators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 6, 1937, No. 33721. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1936. [Class 23] [Also in Group XXVIII] A vacuum cleaner discharges the dusty air into a centrifugal separator 9 from the outlet of which it passes to an annular dust bag 20 surrounding the handle and formed of spaced fabric walls between which a series of tubular passages 24 are formed by stitching. The centrifugal separator is divided by a partition 13, Fig. 3, into a lower dust collecting part having a door 15 removable for emptying, and an upper part in which the air enters tangentially throwing the dust outwards, the cleaned air leaving by slots 10 in an axial outlet pipe the edges of the slots being turned to reverse the direction of flow.
