Abstract

21,671. Percival, L. Oct. 2. Latches, sliding; cases; attaching. -Relates to the lock described in Specification 56/11. The latch-bolt comprises a forked sheet-metal part 18, to which the bolt proper 24 is secured by upstanding ears 23 and a screw, and is guided on a plate 8, secured to the door-plate 2, by means of side projections 13 and a lug 57 bent up from the material of the plate. The bolt-plate 18 has lugs 16, 17 on its limbs 19, 20, an extension 21 for retaining its actuating spring 22, and a bent-up projection 25 adapted to co-operate with the inside locking turnbutton 26. The latch is operated by a follower 11 engaging the projections 16, 17, and its inner end is enclosed in a cap 49 held in place by projections 51 thereon engaging beneath lugs 52 on the plate 8, and by a screw at the other end. Locking sliding latches.-The latch is locked by a transverse locking bolt 15 engaging one of the projections 16, 17 on the latch. The bolt 15 has an opening 36 within which a follower arm on the spindle 43 of the thumb-piece 42 works to operate the bolt from the inside, and is held frictionally against the plate 2 by means of a spring 33 secured to the plate 8. From outside, the bolt 15 is operated by a key inserted through a rotating cylinder 48 into engagement with ears 46 secured to the spindle 43, or by means of a revolving-barrel lock, the barrel of which is connected to the spindle 43.
