Abstract

105,147. Ottinger, L. May 25, 1916. Latches, sliding.-A latch which is adapted to keep the door in which it is mounted pressed against its jamb comprises a latch member 8 controlled by a spring 10 and fitted with a pivoted lever 21 mounted between bevelled nosepieces 8<1>, the lever having a bent tail-piece 23. When the door is closed, the tail-piece 23 engages a part 24 of the lock casing, which causes the lever 21 to bear against the striking plate 5, thereby forcing the door against the jamb. The latch is shown as operated by a spring-controlled lever 12 engaging a lug 11 on the bolt, an ordinary shaft 15 and follower 16 being arranged for alternative use. The lever 21, 23 may be employed in conjunction with a lever 28 pivoted on the lock casing and adapted to press back the bolt when the door is closed, by means of a pin 29 working in a slot 30.
