Abstract

25,826. Badger, J. Nov. 20. Catches, spring.-In a fastening for sliding doors, particularly those of railway carriages, a spring-actuated catch c is mounted on a sliding plate b, guided within a casing on the door, and is raised out of engagement with the striking- plate p, when the plate b is slid back, by means of a roller o on the casing coacting with a camsurface n on the catch. The catch is held in the inoperative position while the door is open by means of a detent f engaging the slide b and is released, when the door is closed, by the auxiliary bolt i. A pin r on the case engaging a slot q in the catch prevents this being raised except by the withdrawal of the slide b. A bolt s actuated by a key-operated follower u serves to lock the catch when desired.
