8988. Brensing, G. Oct. 10. Latches, sliding.-The latch-bolt 32 is operated by an arm 18 on the follower 7, and is held withdrawn, when the door is open by means of a pawl 30 pivoted on the auxiliary bolt 27 and adapted to engage a shoulder 15 on the follower. The auxiliary bolt is withdrawn by an arm 17 on the follower acting on a. lever 33. A pin 29 on the casing, against which the pawl 30 bears, causes the pawl to turn and disengage the follower when the auxiliary bolt 27 is pressed in on the slamming of the door. Locking.-A lock-bolt 41 adapted to engage the arm 17 on the follower is provided to secure the fastening against operation.
