Abstract

9672. Leistler, A. July 13, 1912, [Convention date]. [Addition to 8872/13.] Hasp locks; night-latches. - The lock described in the parent Specification is adapted for use as a hasp lock for sliding doors, trunks, roll-top desks, &c. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bolt 3, adapted to engage the hasps 30, is released from the locking levers 8 when the desk &c. is shut, by means of a dog 23 pivotally mounted on the arm of a lever 13 the other arm of which is depressed by a slide 32 actuated by one of the hasps 30. When the bolt is shot by the spring 19, a projection 28 on the bolt engages a pin 29 on the dog and releases this from the levers, so that these fall to lock the bolt. In a modification, the slide 32 is dispensed with, the hasp 30 acting directly on the lever 13. In the pivoted hasp lock shown in Fig. 4, the staple 35 of the hasp is bevelled to engage an inclined part of the lever 13 so that this is actuated as the hasp is pressed in.
