Abstract

4129. Schroeder, F. W. Feb. 19. Padlocks.-In a padlock of the Scandinavian type, in which the shackle is locked by a barrel lock, the key is retained in the lock until the shackle is secured. The shackle is locked by a plate d, secured to the cylinder of the lock and engaging notches e<1> in the two limbs of the shackle. When the shackle is in the open position, the long limb prevents the plate d from being turned to its normal position, and therefore prevents the disengagement of the key. The casing of the padlock is closed by a plug g screwed into place or otherwise secured, and the sliding motion of the shackle is limited by a pin h engaging a notch e<3> therein, or by a plate i screwed to the casing and having projections i<1> engaging slots i<2> in the long limb. A circular slot e<5> or i<3> is provided in the long limb to allow the shackle to turn.
