Locks, key; latches.-To the ordinary door lock, shown in Fig. 1, the double-armed lever c, d is fitted, which can be turned by a knob on the inside, into the position shown, in which the arm c engages with the shoulder e of the bolt b, thus locking this bolt. This fastening can be undone from outside by using the ordinary key e<1> for the lock-bolt a and turning it in the direction shown by the arrow, when it presses down the arm d and releases the bolt b. The lever c, d is prevented from coming into action unintentionally by the spring f secured to the arm c, a rounded knob h on which engages with a hole in the casing. In modification, shown in Fig. 3, the lever c j is used, the arm j engaging with a pawl k pivoted to the bolt a. On withdrawing the bolt a by the key, the pawl k presses down the arm j and releases the bolt b. When the bolt moves forwards, the pawl k passes over the arm j. In some cases, no keyhole is provided on the inside of the door.
