Abstract

18,390. Brown, M. W. Aug. 3. Breech actions, sliding breechblock.-Relates to automatic gasoperated guns in which the breech bolt 45 has a rotary locking-head 46, and consists mainly in so arranging the parts (1) that the firing-pin 48, which is mounted axially along the centre of the bolt, is directly controlled by the trigger 79, and (2) that the firing-spring 48a abuts, at its rear, against the bolt 45. The pin is held at safe or released for firing by a pivotal cam member 72 adapted to engage with a notch in the pin. The extractor 59 and its spring 60 are placed in one of the guiding-lugs 54, and the other lug has a notch to accommodate the ejector 63. The magazine has inward lips along its upper side edges, to retain the cartridges. A side closureplate allows access to the action.
