Abstract

3039. Justice, P. M., [Ross, Sir C. H. A. F. L.]. Sept. 14, 1910. Breech actions, sliding barrel and breechblock. - Consists in a magazine especially intended for rifles of the kind in which, after recoil, the barrel moves forwards beyond the normal position to open the breech, and on its return picks up a cartridge from the magazine, as described, for example, in Specification 1610/10. The cartridge-lifter 92 is carried by two arms 88, 90 pivoted on different centres in order to keep the lifter always at the required inclination. The casing 82 is pivoted at the front and moves upwards with each cartridge, by reason of the spring clips 102, Fig. 4, until the barrel, during its return, acts on the inclined surface 104 and forces the casing downwards.
