Breech actions, sliding barrel and breechblock.-Relates to automatic small-arms of the type described in Specification 20,362/01, having a spring catch V which engages a bevelled recess in the breech-block in both the open and closed position, and which, when the last cartridge has been fired, is locked in engagement with the breech-block by a lever S operated by the feeder, and consists in providing an automatic safety device, released by a lever 8 in the grip, which not only locks the firing-mechanism but also the catch V. It also supports the nose of the lever S in the correct position for ensuring engagement of the button 11 on the lever with a hole in the cover-plate when the plate is being placed in position.
