9400. Kostanjevic, R., and Matzenik, G. April 18. Blades; regulating; revering.-Forward and reversing turbines are mounted in a common casing 1, Fig. 1, and are separated by a diaphragm 2. A steam-chest 12 is situated at each end of the turbine, and communicates by way of apertures 13 in a partition 10 with a second space formed by a flanged partition 21, Figs. 1 and 7, whence steam passes through diverging nozzles 23 to the turbine. For regulating, additional steam is admitted through a valve 15. Steam is admitted by a pipe 34, Fig. 4, to a reversing- valve 36, whence it is conveyed alternatively by pipes 35, 37 to either end of the turbine. The guide-blades 26, Fig. 15, are radial, but the running blades 29, shown in dotted lines, are set at an angle, to prevent jar.
