Abstract

14,941. Gersant, J., and Legrand, G. J. J. July 20. Elastic-fluid turbines.-A multipleexpansion steam or other fluid pressure turbine is shown in Figs. 1 and 3, in which a number of fixed diaphragms f having curved slots or passages h, alternate with rotary disks having simi larly - shaped passages l with inclined walls. Steam chambers g at the ends of the turbine have curved partitions corresponding to the slots, and these compartments are connected by sloping channels in the casing. Steam from a pipe c enters one end of the turbine and after traversing the passages in the disks and diaphragms returns through a channel b in the casing to the admission end and again passes through the turbine ; and so on. A:suitable reversing-valve may be used. The passages in the disks and diaphragms may be elbowed and they may be formed by vanes projecting from the shaft and casing respectively.
