7022. Jackman, F. P. May 10. Siren type.-A turbine, which may, for example, be driven by steam &c. on its way from a boiler to an engine, comprises a number of rotary disks 27 secured to a shaft 4 and having reaction passages 28 of the shape shown in Figs. 3 and 4, which co-operate with guide-passages 26 formed in fixed disks 11, a substantial space being left between each rotor disk 27 and the next succeeding stator disk 11. Steam is admitted by a pipe 25 to a central chamber B, where it flows in opposite axial directions, the ports 26 being so dimensioned that no deadcentre can occur. The exhaust ports 20, 21 lead to a common discharge pipe 23. The fixed disks 11 have flanges 13 at their outer ends which form bearing-surfaces for packing-rings 31 carried by the rotary disks 27.
