Abstract

189,535. Berry, E. G. L., and Frith, H. T. Aug. 31, 1921. Forcing gas into liquid.-Apparatus for aerating liquid in bottles is so constructed that the action of pressing the bottle against the seating through which the gas enters also moves a shield to close an opening through which the bottle is introduced into a casing forming a guard. The gas passes from a container held in a ring g through a tubular horizontal member a and a nozzle k. The bottle is replaced on a stand q and pressed against a cup j by means of a screw r. A casing o surrounds the cup and has a downward extension with an opening through which the bottle is introduced. On the stand q is a shield p, the upper edge of which is formed as a cam t engaging with a pin v so that the stand q cannot be raised unless the shield t is turned to close the opening in the casing o. Air escapes through the cup j, an opening l, and a spring-controlled valve m. The tension of the spring is regulated by means of a screw and wheel z.
