Abstract

Bottling.-Apparatus for filling bottles with liquid up to a predetermined level comprises a slidably mounted and spring-controlled filler tube a supported from a tank c and having an air-vent pipe m extending in airtight manner through the head d of the filler tube to above the level of the liquid in the tank, and at its lower end m* secured In an airtight manner in a hole in the lower end of the filler tube, a valve in the hea'd of the filler tube formed by holes f in the tube and a rubber washer e co-operating with a seat on a stuffing-box b through' which the tube a slides, and a slidably mounted and spring- controlled bottle carrier n of which the spring s is stronger than the spring k of the filler tube so that it acts through the bottle v to move the filler tube upwards to open its valve, the valve being closed when the filled bottle is removed. The upper end of the vent tube m is guided by a bracket x in the tank. The bottle carrier n is adjustably secured by a set-screw o in a sleeve p slidably mounted on a pillar q which has a pin t traversing a slot u in the sleeve. The filler tube a is provided with a rubber closure pad h provided with annular grooves i to suit bottles with mouths of different sizes.
