Abstract

233,743. Sugden, G. F. Dec. 18, 1923. Combined aerating and bottling apparatus; valves, arrangement and disposition of.-Relates to apparatus of the type in which a frame for holding the bottle and an aerating chamber rotate about a fixed plug forming a gas inlet and snift valve, the liquid running from the bottle to the aerating chamber when the bottle is inverted, gas being admitted at the same time, and running back when the bottle is returned, surplus gas then escaping, and consists in the arrangement of parts described. The aerating chamber q is carried on a sleeve, i surrounding the plug a and carries through rods 2 and springs 7 a platform x for the bottle. The bottle can be pressed against a rubber washer u surrounding the orifice of a chamber q by a toggle lever 3 to which the rods 2 are pivoted. A passage g in the plug a is connected to a gas-bottle d through a reducing valve e, and when the bottle is inverted admits gas to the chamber q through a nozzle o. The chamber q is large enough to receive practically the whole contents of the bottle. When the bottle is returned to position below the, plug a, the nozzle o communicates with a vent h. A hinged or sliding guard 10 is provided.
