Wheel-guards.-A wheel-guard mechanism for motor vehicles comprises a main adjustable member a pivoted to a framework attached to the stub axle or to the vehicle body or frame, the said member being located on the inner side of a wheel and adapted ta adjustably support and guide inner and outer anti-splash guard plates m either alone or in combination with a pivotally operating wheel-guard b' interconnected with the splash guard. The free end of the main adjustable member a, and the forward ends of the antisplash guard plates m are suspended from crank arms n, g connected together by a link n<1> so that both anti-splash guard plates m may be operated and adjusted simultaneously. The member a, shown in dotted line, is pivoted at the front end a' to a framework, (not shown), fixed to the stub axle, when applied to the front wheels, or to a framework or the bcdy of the vehicle when applied to the rear wheels, and is suspended at its rear end by a chain n<3> from a crank n. The anti-splash guards m are loosely suspended at the rear end in a boss p, Fig. 2, attached to the member a and are kept in a forward position by a spring m<1>. The front end of the anti-splash guards m are suspended by a chain f from a crank g which is connected to the crank n by a bar n' so that a movement of the cranks raises or lowers the anti-splash guards parallel to the ground. An adjustable stop o, Fig. 1, attached to the framework, limits the movement of an extension h of the crank g and is adjusted to maintain the anti-splash guards m at a definite distance from the ground. The anti-splash guard m may be combined with wheel-guards b<1>, Fig. 2, and a centre-guard, between the two front wheels, which turns with the steering and also with an upper suspended centre guard as desscribed in Specification 144,758. The antisplash guards m may be used alone, as in Fig. 1, in which case the front end moves in a guide q attached to the pivoted end of the member a. The outer anti-splash guard is maintained away from the side of the wheel by a spring.
