Abstract

Lateral-splash guards for motor-vehicles comprise a rigid plate a which is suspended from a bar b extending along the side of the wheel e and supported at the centre d thereof, the bar being also either hinged to the vehicle body, as by a part b<1>, or carried round the front or back of the wheel and rigidly secured to the steering-arm. The plate has pin-and-slot connections b<5>, a<3>, b<6>, a<4> with arms b<3>, b<4> upon the bar and is thus free to rise when it encounters obstruction upon the road.
