Modifying scale of readings.- In an impulse speed-indicator actuated pneumatically from a revolving shaft, a piston p, Figs. 1 and 2, receives the impulses, and through a ccnnecting-rod b, rotates a member f having teeth over part of its periphery engaging with a pinion on a shaft e. Another wheel on the shaft e gears with a wheel on a sleeve rotatably mounted on a stationary spindle M, the sleeve being surrounded by a coiled spring. The spring and sleeve may be conical so that they gradually grip one another under increasing speed, w h e r e b y an equally divided scale may be obtained. The sleeve takes up a position dependent on the frequency of the impulses, i.e. the speed of the revolving shaft. A pointer Z rigid with a mass n is mounted on the end of the spindle M and is resiliently cnnnected to the sleeve through a spring s, thiarrangement constituting a damping device.
