The spindle of the pointer m is in two parts j, l, the part j being fixed to the wheel i and having secured to it the disc n carrying the rod k extending into the part l secured to the pointer and also carrying the pin p engaging in a recess q of the disc o with sufficient play to prevent the pointer m being affected by small variations in speed. The disc o carries a pin r which can engage with a pin s to prevent the pointer from returning beyond its initial position. The several elements are held together by the parts t, v and the plate w. Instead of worms and worm wheel i toothed racks and a spur wheel may be employed.
