Acoustic speed indicators; particular-speed alarms.-A device in which a sound signal is given until a predetermined speed of a body is reached, but ceases to sound at a higher number of revolutions, comprises a disc a rotatable about a shaft at in and having mounted upon it a spindle f supporting a bell b. A U-shaped bell hammer c is loosely mounted on the spindle f so as to be engaged by a driving pin d pressed out of the disc a. The disc may be secured to the crank driving the shaft m by bending over the fingers i. Until a predetermined speed is reached, the hammer c falls once each revolution, and strikes the lug h on the bell. The spring clip g holding the spindle f may be moved to alter the speed at which the hammer will cease to sound the bell. The driving pin d may be made adjustable for the same purpose, or the bell may be mounted adjustably and eccentrically with reference to the pivot of the hammer. Two hammers may be provided to give indications of different speeds. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the bell is replaced by a sounding spring b, and the spring and hammer c are secured to the driving crank a by a clip k.
