Abstract

186,698. Gilman, F., and Thompson, G. H. July 4, 1921. Ball-and-socket joints.-The ball member 2 in a ball-and-socket joint, for tubes conveying pressure fluid, is formed with a recess containing a sliding spring-pressure piece 5 bearing against the inner end of the socket and pressing the ball against its seating. The ball is surrounded by a resilient washer 12 compressed by suitable means, such as a screw ring 13. The invention is shown applied to the joint between a pneumatic hose and a scaling tool of the kind described in Specification 181,516.
