Fluid bearings. - In end-thrust balancing-devices of the kind comprising elements which, on axial movement of a turbine or other shaft, give a varying throttling effect, and thereby regulate the pressure of a fluid, a fluid having a coefficient of viscosity not lower than that of substantially pure glycerine or castoroil is used for the pressure fluid. Pressure fluid supplied to a middle chamber passes by way of throttle elements 2, formed by cylindrical projections 6, 7, one fixed and one rotating, to side chambers and leaves through throttle elements 3.
