Abstract

192,490. Marechal, P. J. C. Nov. 2, 1921. Addition to 171,093. Fluid bearings. - An endthrust balancing device for turbines &c. comprises two of the variable pressure chambers, described in the parent Specification, the pressures in which vary oppositely for any movement of the rotor. An adjustable fixed casing 21 encloses a balancing disc 17 which forms with the casing two chambers p<2> to which fluid passes through variable cylindrical throttle passages 2 and leaves by similar throttle passages 3. On any movement of the balancing disc, the resistance of the throttle passages 2, 3 of one chamber vary oppositely so that the pressure in this chamber rises or falls. The pressure in the other chamber is affected in a similar way but the variation is in the opposite sense.
