Abstract
375,215. Steam turbines. AKT.- GES. DER MASCHINENFABRIKEN ESCHER, WYSS, ET CIE, 19, Hardturmstrasse, Z³rich, Switzerland. Dec. 23, 1931, No. 35565. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1930. [Class 110 (iii).] In a steam &c. turbine 1 in which the same medium is used for lubricating a bearing 6 and for driving the turbine, the bearing is arranged in the exhaust branch 5 which connects with the condenser 2 so that lubricant forced into the bearing drains into the exhaust branch. Stuffing boxes at this point are thus rendered unnecessary. As lubricant, steam or condensate supplied by the pump 12 through a pipe 8 may be used. The regulating valve 9 may be interconnected with the starting-up gear. The arrangement can be applied to a back-pressure turbine.
