Abstract

183,482. Aktiebolaget Vaporackumulator. July 22, 1921, [Convention date]. Steam regenerative accumulators.-Relates to the application of a steam storer to a stationary plant comprising internal-combustion engines, the exhaust gases from which are used to generate steam for power production or heating purposes. The steam storer, which consists of a tank of water or other liquid wherein the steam condenses, is adapted to store the available surplus steam and deliver it when required. In one arrangement, Fig. 2, the exhaust gases from the constant-load internal combustion engines A pass to boilers C and generate steam which is supplied past a valve H to a pipe system E connected to a steam-storer F and a turbine K and also, by way of a reducing-valve M, to further piping 0 connected to steam consumers P. The valve H serves to keep the pressure in the boilers C constant, the storer F storing any steam surplus and supplying any deficiency. In another arrangement, Fig. 4, the steam from the boilers U passes through a turbine R before being conducted to the storer system E, F, and the pipe system O leading to consumers with a variable steam consumption. By means of a centrifugal governor T, an increased demand for steam by the turbine can be met by admitting steam to the low-pressure stage S from the storer F.
