Systems depending on the use of two or more machines. - An electric supply system comprises an asynchronous generator the motive power of which is variable or intermittent and which is arranged to run as a motor when the motive power falls below a predetermined value. The energy may be supplied by any kind of furnace, oy gas-engine exhaust, hot-water circulation systems, &c. A boiler a supplies a turbine c driving an asynchronous generator d, and the supply pipe f contains a valve e adapted to close when the steam pressure falls below a predetermined value. A speed-regulating device g shuts off the supply of steam when the speed attains a given value. The boiler a may be replaced by an accumulator of low-pressure steam or by a collector feeding hot-gas engines.
