Abstract
1411383 Steam turbine plant INSTITUTUL DE PROIECTARI PENTRU INDUSTRIA CHIMICA ANORGANICA SI A INGRASAMINTELOR-IPRAN 11 Sept 1972 42151/72 Headings F1Q and FIT A steam power plant including a boiler 10 heated during normal running by waste heat from a main installation comprises further boilers 1 which, at starting, feed superheated steam at low- or medium-pressure via cooler 21 to an electrically driven compressor 2 delivering high-pressure steam to a superheater 4 having its own furnace. The output of boilers 1 is sufficient to meet the starting requirements of the main installation which may be a hydrocarbon cracker or synthesis plant for ammonia, gasolene or acetylene. The steam from superheater 4 is supplied to turbines 8 driving equipment 9 such as an air compressor of the main installation. Turbines 8 exhaust to a low-pressure steam system b and also supply bleed steam to a medium-pressure system a. As the main installation starts up the waste heat therefrom begins to generate steam in boiler 10 which is then passed through waste heat superheater 11, and to some extent through balance connection c and superheater 4, to turbines 8. When start-up has been completed steam compressor 2 is shut down together with possibly one of the boilers 1. Excess steam generated drives a turbine 5 and electric generator 6, turbine 5 exhausting to condenser 7 and also supplying bleed steam to L.P. system b. When the plant is associated with a synethetic ammonia plant, Fig. 2 (not shown), additional steam turbines (12, 13) drive respectively a methane gas compressor (13) and plant equipment (15).
