Abstract

262,437. Siemens - Schuckertwerke, Ges. Dec. 4, 1925, [Convention date]. Motor power plant.-A high pressure steam boiler is cooled when the firing is stopped and the steam valve closed by passing water through the boiler into a hot water accumulator. Steam from the accumulator is used for driving an engine, say the pump engine, surplus steam being led into a steam regenerative accumulator. At restarting, the water in the hot-water accumulator is circulated through the boiler until the desired temperature and pressure are reached. Steam from a boiler 1 is supplied through a pipe 3 to an engine 4, exhausting into a low-pressure pipe line 7, from which steam is supplied to condensing engines 9, 10. The two-stage engine 10 drives an electric generator supplying current to the motors of the feed pumps 17, 20. When the main steam valve 29 is closed, the engine 10 is driven by steam from a. hot-water accumulator 19, which receives the cooling water forced through the boiler by the feed-pumps. A steam regenerative accumulator 26 receives steam from the pipe line 7. and supplies steam through a valve 33, controlled by the pressure in the pipe line 7, to the second stage of the engine 10. Upon restarting, the water outlet valve 32 of the accumulator 19 is opened, and the pump 20 is started to circulate water from the accumulator through the boiler. Subsequently the valve 32 is closed, and the feed-valve 38 and steam valves 29 are opened.
