Abstract

181,751. Imray, O., (Nashua Gummed & Coated Paper Co.). Dec. 21, 1920. Paper, treating mechanically.-Gummed or other coated sheets or webs of paper are treated by drawing them over approximately right-angled edges 11, 14, which break the coating to prevent the sheets &c. from curling, the edges being arranged diagonally across the sheets and at different angles with respect to the sheet. In the apparatus shown, a web 4 is drawn from a roll 2 by feed-rollers 7 and passes over the edge 11 to an inclined guide-roller 13, and is then drawn up over the edge 14 by feed-rollers 17 and passes on to a winding-roller. The tension of the web can be varied by adjusting the speed of the rollers 17, 13 by sliding the members 21 of frictional driving-devices.
