Abstract

A solution to be used in the preparation of or as an addition to the setting-bath employed in the manufacture of filaments, films, &c. from viscose, is prepared by adding starch to sulphuric acid of 50-65 per cent strength and at a temperature of 35-75 DEG C.ALSO:A solution of starch in sulphuric acid is prepared by employing sulphuric acid of a concentration of 50-65 per cent and at a temperature of 35-75 DEG C., and adding the starch to the hot acid; working in this manner a mobile homogenous liquid is obtained and the formation of lumps is avoided. The liquid obtained may be employed in the preparation of or as an addition to the setting-bath used in the manufacture of filaments, films, &c. from viscose.
