179,959. Bertrand, J. J. M., and Solanet, L. J. H. May 13, 1921, [Convention date]. Four-stroke-cycle engines.-An engine is fcrmed of two or more groups of cylinders each group consisting of four cylinders arranged in line two on each side of the crank shaft with all the cranks in one plane; there may be two, three or four cranks to each group. The crank shafts of the groups are similar and are displaced at equal angles; where number p of groups is odd the angle of displacement may be 360‹/p or 180‹/p. The number of bearings is varied according to the crank construction used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a six cylinder engine with opposite cylinders acting on the same crank pin or as shown in Fig. 2 (Cancelled). The axes may be displaced a small distance l; in another arrangement the distance l, Fig. 6, (Cancelled) is large. A ten cylinder engine is also described. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
