Abstract

178,683. Davis, R. H. March 19, 1921. Pressure-regulating valves particularly adapted for use in mine resc@e breathing-apparatus. A subsidiary chamber contains a cam or lever actuated bypass valve adapted to slide freely axially whereby high-preasure gas may be admitted directly t o the low - pressure side of the reducing- valve. In the form shown, the by-pass valve j engages an ebonite seat i on a plug h screwed into the by-pass nassage f, and is opened against the action of a spring k by a lever n pivoted at o and provided with an adjustable actuating- head n'. The head n' bears against a flexible diaphragm p hermetically secured in an orifice q in the casing. In a modification, the bead n<1> is formed on a tapered stem adapted to actuate the valve j through a loose ball.
