Abstract

219,140. Kitson, A., and Kitson Engineering Co. (London), Ltd. June 14,1923. Safety-valves.-A combined safety-valve and hand-operated relief valve for use on the fuel containers of flow lamps &c. has two independent passages leading to the container one of which leads to the safety-valve while the other leads to the hand-actuated relief valve. The valve casing 5 has an enlarged cylindrical base 5<1> adapted to screw on a boss 6 formed on the container 7 and has a central passage 8 formed with a valve seat 9 for the safety-valve. The safety-valve member 11 which is provided with a resilient face 13 is held to its seat by a spring 14 adjusted by a screwed plug 15, interchangeable rings 19 being provided to limit the compression of the spring. The plug 15 is formed with a guide socket 17 adapted to receive the valve actuated needle valve 24 and leads either directly into the atmosphere or into the main exhaust passage. The port or ports leading to the atmosphere may be protected by wire gauze.
