[Class 135] An air admission device for high altitude breathing apparatus comprises a valve disc '6 with a conical throttling portion 7 and a sliding member 8 guided within a cylindrical casing 4 by ribs and grooves 9, 10. Cam surfaces 11 on the member 8 are engaged by corresponding surfaces 13 on a rotatable cover 12 to open the valve against the pressure of a spring 14. Air admission passages 17 are provided in the casing 4 for admission of air past the valve 7, 6 to the apparatus 1.
