Abstract

177,856. White, W. A. Dec. 31, 1920. Burners, attaching.-Removable burners for liquid fuel furnaces are connected by a pivotal stirrup and screw to the oil supply pipe, the cock of which has a handle portion and bracket adapted to span and partially surround the stirrup screw so as to prevent access thereto whilst the cock is turned on. The elbow portion 1 is made with joint seat 3 for connection with the fitting 4 secured to the furnace front. Fixed to the cock spindle 6 is a bracket 7 having a slotted portion concentric with the cock preventing access, when the cock is open, to the head 10 of the coupling screw 11 carried by a pivotal stirrup 12. When the cock is closed, the bracket 7 is clear of the coupling screw, the retraction of which enables the stirrup to be raised and the parts 1, 2 of the burner to be withdrawn from the furnace front. Movement of the handle 9 may be limited by the engagement of an extension 16 of the bracket with stops on the fitting 4.
