Class 75(1) A burner removably mounted on a furnace front 28 comprises two separable body. parts 5, 6 clamped together by a pivoted yoke 15 and a screw 16, a hollow spigot 18 in the part 6 engaging with a socket in the other part 5 to convey fuel from the part 6 to a burner 9 on the end of a pipe 8 removably mounted in the part 5 and a plug valve 20 mounted in the part 6 and having a dog 27 which engages in a groove in a rotatable spindle 26 in a bracket 24 secured to the furnace front, the dog 27 serving to prevent axial movement of the burner from the furnace front whilst the plug valve is open. When the plug valve is in closed position the dog 27 can be slid out of the groove in the spindle 26 and out of an upper part of a slot 24a in the bracket 24, thus allowing the burner to be removed from the furnace front. A hood 30 on the furnace front then no longer prevents access to the handle 31 of the clamping screw 16 and the stem 22 of a spring closed valve 19 in the part 6 is withdrawn from abutment with a part 23 of the bracket 24 allowing the valve 19 to close. The spindle 26 is rotated to operate the plug valve 20 by a handle 25 extending through a lower portion of the slot 24a in the bracket 24. The burner pipe 8 extends from a head 7 slidable in the body part 5 and held therein by the screw 16. A projection 13 on the head 7 extends into a groove in the body part 5 and is located between the body part 5 and a stop 14 on the body part 6. In a modified construction the spring closed valve 19 is omitted.
