Abstract

944,286. Gas taps for cookers. CANNON INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 10, 1960 [April 11, 1959], No. 12347/59. Heading F4T. A gas tap mounted on the hot-plate of a cooker has an adjustable sleeve 7 for varying gaps 21 for admitting air to a mixing tube 20 and the sleeve is moved axially by a screw 28 which becomes accessible when a handle 4 detachably fitted on to the spindle 2 of the tap is removed. The screw 28 is retained in a bearing hole 29 in the body of the tap by a circlip 30 and is threaded into a bracket 23 secured to the adjustable sleeve 7. A screwdriver 32 for turning the screw 28 is passed through an opening 31 in a visor 9 held in an aperture in a panel 1 of the cooker by a compression spring 11 secured to the spindle of the tap. Before the tap can be turned on it must be pushed inwardly against the spring 11 to release a radial projection. The gas nozzle is screwed on to a spigot 12, and a taper needle 14 mounted on a spider extends through the orifice of the nozzle. The nozzle is turned to adjust the orifice by engaging a screw-driver in notches 18 in the rim of a cup 16 secured to the nozzle. A spring may be fitted inside the cup 16 to prevent back lash of the nozzle.
