Abstract
864,729. Scaffolding. WERNER CO. Inc., R. D. Aug. 29, 1958, No. 27778/58. Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXV] An adjustable leg for scaffolding comprises a scaffold tube 11 resting on a collar 18 engaging a screw threaded shaft 15 by circumferentially spaced screw threaded parts 18b, there being flats 15e on the shaft and unthreaded parts in the collar so that the shaft and the collar may be turned relatively and disengaged to allow relative adjustment. A sleeve 16 surrounds the collar having an inwardly projecting ring 17 having a slot fitting the flats on the shaft so as to turn with it and slide on it and latches a are engaged with latches on the bottom of the collar by a spring 19 between the top of the collar and a flange 16a on the sleeve, to hold the parts in the engaged and disengaged positions. The sleeve 16 is knurled at 16b to facilitate it being turned to turn and disengage the shaft when it is to be adjusted.
