465,575. Securing valve-handles on spindles. JUNKERS & CO., GES. Nov. 25, 1936, No. 32270. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1935. [Class 80 (ii)] A non-metallic valve-handle 10 is secured on its spindle 11 by means of an externally non- circular nut 12, which screws on the spindle and is non-rotatably carried, with axial and lateral play, in a non-circular cavity 14 in the handle, the nut being axially pressed by a spring, such as a washer 17, against an abutment constituted by a split-ring 15 in the handle. Alternatively the washer 17 may be replaced by a spring at the base of the cavity 14. To prevent the split-ring 15 from falling out of the cavity when the handle is being tightened on the spindle, the nut 12 may have a reduced bearing-extension 18, or the spring-washer may have inturned projections 19. The handle is unaffected by thermal expansion of the spindle.
