Abstract

537,188. Attaching knobs. ALLART. Ltd., G., and ALLART, G. Dec. 19, 1939, No. 32480. [Class 44] In means for attaching door-knobs to spindles comprising a Sleeve-nut b screwed on to a threaded square spindle a to bear against the 'door with or without an intervening washer d, and finally housed in a. cylindrical socket c<4> in the knob which has a square aperture c<1> to slide on to the spindle after adjustment of the nut, the nut is coupled to the knob by means having transverse linear contact with a surface of the spindle. In Fig. 1 a pin e passed through registering apertures in socket c' and nut and through a transverse slot a<2> in the spindle, making linear contact with the side walls of the slot. Alternatively, a segment g, Fig. 3, is inserted in registering slots c<3>, b<2> in socket and nut respectively. so as to bear against an outer surface of the spindle. In both cases, the pin e or segment g is concealed and retained by a sleeve-portion f of a rose-plate f which is slid on to the knob before attachment and is finally secured to the door by screws.
