492,268. Attaching knobs to spindles. SPRING, F. W. March 15, 1937, No. 7468. [Class 44] A door handle or knob a is secured to a spindle d of hollow or part hollow angular cross-section by a screw g passing through a slot in the wall of the spindle and engaging a tapped hole in a slidable block h to draw it against the flanges or marginal edges of the slot. The contacting surfaces of the block and spindle are serrated. The spindle is stamped from sheet metal bent up to form a tube of angular cross-section with a slot in one wall and serrations at the margins of the slot. The block h may be retained in the spindle by burring over the ends of the spindle or by securing a peg in the spindle wall after the block has been inserted.
