This invention relates to shade fixtures and particularly to shade pulls.

One of the principal objects of my invention is to-provide a shade pull which is readily attachable to shades of ordinary construction and which is capable of being reliably secured to said shades while at the same time presenting a neat and attractive appearance.

Another object of my invention is to provide a fixture of the above described character which is simple in construction, efiicient in operation and economical in manufacture.

A further object of my invention is to provide a fixture of the above described character which may be readily detached from a shade and applied to another.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a fixture of the above described character equipped with means forming a finger-piece or operating medium which may be readily detached for the purpose of refinishing the surfaces of the same in keeping with a desired decorative scheme.

Still another object of my invention is to provide a fixture equipped with an operating medium capable of having secured thereto additional means for assisting in the raising and lowering of the shade.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claims and annexed drawing.

In teaching my invention, there is provided a hollow body 5 of an elongated cylindrical shape having opposed free ends throughout the length thereof. One of said ends is oifset to form a shade engaging member 6 of rectangular configuration having laterally extending angularly disposed flanges l forming a recess in Which is secured a body of resilient material 8, preferably constructed of rubber. The opposite free end is slotted as at 9 to register with a subjacent slot I 6 formed in the body 5, said slots receiving therethrough the shank ll of a coacting shade engaging member I2.

The shank of the shade engaging member 5 2 is elongated and provided with side flanges and extends through the slots 9 and ID in a manner to position an elongated rectangular section I 3 in opposed relation with the shade engaging member 6. The section I3 is also formed with laterally extending flanges to form a recess within which is positioned a body of resilient material 14, preferably constructed of rubber. The bodies of resilient material 8 and M are secured within the respective recesses by means of detent portions 8 formed in the outer faces of said members.

The body 5 is also formed with an oppositely disposed pair of slots IS, in registry with each other and which receive therethrough an elongated shank l6 formed on the body section I! of a shade operating member. The lower end of the shank I6 is formed with an aperture 18 for receiving therein a knob l9. The knob I9 may be of any desired construction and serves to assist in operating the device. The shank l6 constitutes the finger-piece for operating a window shade when the device is attached thereto.

In use, the body including the shade engaging member 6 is inserted about the lower portion of a window shade 2!], illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The lower portion of said shade comprises a fold having secured therein the typical stick 2| formed with upwardly and inwardly inclined side walls. The shank ll of the coacting shade engaging member I 2 is inserted downwardly through the slots 9 and H] to engage the fold and stick 2| of the shade between the inner faces of the bodies of resilient material 8 and M. The body 5 is constructed of resilient material and yieldable to permit the lower section of the shade to be wedged between the resilient bodies 8 and IA. The shank I6 of the shade operating member is inserted through the slots I5. The body section I! while functioning to limit the downward movement of the shank also forms, together with the shank, a decorative ornament of neat and pleasing appearance. Said operating member may be detached from the body 5 and refinished in suitable colors in harmony with a desired decorative scheme.

Pull exerted on the finger-piece or shank IE will cause the shade to be moved downwardly due to the wedging action of the shade engaging members effected by the influence of the yieldable body 5.

From the foregoing it will be apparent that when the device is secured on the lower edge of a shade the same will be securely held thereto and may be readily detached therefrom by removal of the shade engaging member l2 from the body 5.

Having described my invention, what I claim 1. A device of the character described, comprising, a body having registering slots and fashioned with a shade and stick engaging member, and a coacting shade and stick engaging member extending within some of said slots and co acting with said first mentioned member to secure said body to a shade and stick.

2. A device of the character described, comprising, a body having registering slots and fashioned with a shade and stick engaging member, a coacting shade and stick engaging member extending within some of said slots and coacting with said first mentioned member to secure said body to a shade and stick, and means extending within other of said slots and coacting with said body for Wedging a shade and stick between said members upon stress exerted by said means on said body.

3. A device of the character described, comprisjing through some of said slots, means embracing a shade and stick for maintaining said last mentioned member in tensioned condition in said slots whereby to secure said body to said shade and stick, and a finger-piece carried by said body and coacting therewith to urge said members together in a manner to wedge said shade and stick therebetween upon movement of said finger-piece.
