Abstract
465,426. Attaching knobs to spindles. GRIMMOND, R. April 22, 1936, No. 11505. [Class 44] Knobs 3 are attached to spindles 7 by springs 14 passing through slots in the socket 1 and engaging grooves 18 in the spindle, the springs having projections 15 anchored in slots 16 in a carrier ring 9 rotatable on the socket to bring the spring arms into or out of engagement with the grooves 18 provided on two opposed faces of the spindle 7. The knob 3 is secured by a screw 5 to the socket 1 which may be mounted by a cover plate 12 having pins 25 to enter the face of the door. The grooves at either end of the spindle may be differently spaced, or the carrier ring may have two or more springs spaced differently to the grooves, to give a fine adjustment. The spindle may be polygonal, or twin spindles of circular section may be used.
