Guided skip and hopper hoists.-A tower crane or platform load-handling apparatus comprises a built-up portable framework adapted to run on rails laid along the face of a building or structure, and provided with guide rails for a load-carrying platform on the face of the framework that is at right angles to the line of the building. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the guide rails 5 are duplicated on opposite sides of the framework and two balancing L-shaped platforms 11 are raised by winding-drums on the fixed platform 13. Each movable platform has two pairs of upper rollers engaging opposite sides of the flange of the T-rail 5, and lower rollers engaging the outer side of the flange only and the platforms are arranged so that when one is raised, the other is lowered simultaneously. A jib 4 may be added to the structure.
